The dental care specialists at Cambridge Dental Group strive to provide patients with tooth restorations that look and feel completely natural. We understand the impact that a person’s smile has on their appearance, and that is why we do everything we can to make sure that our patients receive the best possible restorations. If you visit Cambridge Dental Group for a dental crown or bridgework, you can be confident that you will leave with natural-looking teeth and a gorgeous smile.
Placed at the site of a lost or damaged tooth, dental crowns are tooth-shaped structures that can be used to restore a tooth’s appearance and function. We use porcelain in all of our dental crowns because of the material’s great functionality and natural appearance.
Some of the reasons patients receive dental crowns include:
Installing a custom dental crown requires two visits to our practice. During the first visit, the tooth will be prepared for the crown and impressions will be taken of the patient’s teeth so a customized dental crown can be constructed. The actual application of the dental crown will take place during the second visit.
The first step to receiving a dental crown is for the dentist to shave off a portion of the designated tooth so the dental crown will properly fit. Once the tooth is prepped, we will take impressions of the patient’s teeth so the custom crown can be built in a special dental laboratory. To hold the patient over while their customized crown is being constructed, they will be fitted with a temporary restoration.
After the custom dental crown is ready, the patient will revisit our clinic. The crown will be permanently applied to the patient’s tooth using a dental bonding agent.
Dental bridges, also known as partial dentures, are used when patients are missing multiple teeth. A dental bridge is comprised of natural-looking prosthetic teeth that are supported by the adjacent teeth that are still present. Dental bridges can be either removable or permanently attached within the mouth. All of the dental bridges at Cambridge Dental Group are constructed from porcelain due to the material’s proven performance and natural look.
Fixed bridges are permanently secured inside the mouth using one of two methods. They are either bonded directly to adjacent supporting teeth, or a series of dental crowns are applied on top of supporting structures. Removable bridges remain securely in place using metal clasps or precision attachments, and they can be taken out of the mouth by the user for cleaning purposes.
