Custom-fit veneers are used to enhance the look of a person’s teeth and make noticeable improvements to their smile. They consist of wafer-like shells that are applied over the surface of one’s teeth as a way of correcting noticeable flaws. Because of their superb versatility and ease of use, more and more patients are choosing veneers as their preferred form of cosmetic dental treatment.
Veneers have a wide-variety of uses, including
- Color enhancement
- Fixing misshapen or crooked teeth
- Repair chips, cracks and other damages
- Resize teeth
The ultra-thin design and natural color of veneers makes them virtually undetectable to others, offering the appearance of healthy, white tooth enamel. They are designed to be fully-resistant to staining from tobacco products and beverages such as coffee and wine. With proper maintenance, veneers should last for a full decade or longer. We are proud to offer patients both porcelain and composite veneers.
A patient must make two visits to our clinic in order to have veneers installed. The first step is to shave off some of the enamel of the designated tooth so that the veneers will be able to fit properly. Next, impressions of the tooth will be taken, and the oral care specialist will determine the exact coloring that will be used. Using these impressions, a customized veneer will be specially built in a dental laboratory. To end the first visit, the patient will be fitted with a temporary restoration that is designed to last until the custom veneer is ready.
Once the custom veneer is built, the patient will return for their second visit. The dental care expert will start by thoroughly cleaning the tooth. Next, the tooth will be treated with etching gel so that the veneer can bond properly. Once ready, the veneer will be applied to the tooth using a special dental adhesive. After the veneer has been attached, the patient will be given instructions on how to take care of their newly-installed veneer.
